Overview

The Settlement Negotiation Tracker allows you and your mediator to log each round of negotiation in real time, automatically calculating the spread between positions, movement by each side, and midpoints as the session progresses.

How to Use

Round 1 — Opening Positions Enter the Plaintiff’s opening demand in the Plaintiff Demand field and the Defendant’s opening offer in the Defendant Offer field. Both are required for the first round. Click Add Round to record them.

Subsequent Rounds — Recording Movement For each new round, only enter a number in the field for the side that moved. Leave the other field blank and the tracker will automatically carry forward the last known number. Click Add Round after each entry.

Recording a Bracket Proposal If either side proposes a settlement bracket (a range rather than a single number), enter the low and high ends of the bracket in the Bracket Low and Bracket High fields, and select which side made the proposal in the Bracket By dropdown. You may enter a bracket alongside a demand or offer, or on its own as a bracket-only round.

Reading the Table Each row in the table shows the full picture for that round — the live demand and offer, the spread between them, how much each side moved from the prior round, the midpoint between the two positions, and any bracket information. All figures are calculated automatically.

Reading the Summary Cards The four cards at the top update after every round and show the latest spread, total movement by each side, and the midpoint of the most recent bracket.

Reading the Chart The Negotiation Convergence chart plots plaintiff demand, defendant offer, and midpoint across all rounds so you can visualize how the gap is closing over time.

Editing a Round Double-click any value in the table to edit it inline. Press Enter or click outside the cell to save.

Deleting a Round Click the Delete button at the end of any row to remove that round. All calculations will update automatically.
